One hour per week can make a difference in the life of a homebound older adult. Multiple volunteers are needed to visit seniors in Jamaica Queens. Our clients like to play cards, listen to music, watch old movies, do arts and crafts, learn technology or just chat. We will match your interests with theirs. Schedules are flexible, geared to your availability. If you are friendly and compassionate join our team and help us to brighten the world, one life at a time.

Our goal is to create an environment that encourages physical and emotional stability to assist people 60 years and older to attain quality of life while living in their community.
Description
The Southwest Queens Friendly Visiting Program is a support service for isolated seniors living in the community. Our program is designed to provide support and companionship to these older adults on a regular basis.The program provides seniors with visits in their own homes; this helps them maintain social contact and integrates them more effectively into their community. Each senior is matached with a friendly volunteer who will visit once a week at a mutually agreeable time. Efforts are made to match seniors with volunteers who share similar interests. The volunteer visitor provides weekly support through visiting, reading, shoppiing and other activities identified by the senior.
