Learning Buddies volunteers connect with elementary students in Dakota & Southern Washington County schools to provide academic support and create intergenerational connections. Volunteers work with the same class and teacher for the entire school year. Contact volunteer@darts1.org or call 651-234-2227 to learn more.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Volunteers are ages 55+
- Ability to relate well and communicate with children
- Agree to treat all children equally and with respect
- Work with students once a week throughout the school year
- Attend an orientation and training session
- Take direction from the teacher to provide reading, math, science, art or other support
- Willingness to follow guidelines as determined by DARTS and the participating school

DARTS services empower older adults to age independently in place and support caregivers. Our services are available to all seniors and caregivers regardless of income, race, and background. DARTS works to be a community partner across generations while living out our mission of creating connections that enrich aging.

DARTS is a nonprofit organization that has provided personalized and professional services for older adults and caregivers in the Twin Cities southeast metro for 50 years and counting!
DARTS services include things like:
