Learning Buddies volunteers connect with elementary students in Dakota & Southern Washington County schools to provide academic support and create intergenerational connections. Volunteers work with the same class and teacher for the entire school year. Contact volunteer@darts1.org or call 651-234-2227 to learn more.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Volunteers are ages 55+
  • Ability to relate well and communicate with children
  • Agree to treat all children equally and with respect
  • Work with students once a week throughout the school year
  • Attend an orientation and training session
  • Take direction from the teacher to provide reading, math, science, art or other support
  • Willingness to follow guidelines as determined by DARTS and the participating school
