TEDXSeattle is looking for a rock star Wed developer volunteer who will be responsible for managing updates of the content for the TEDXSeattle website in Wordpress.
Responsibilities:
- Requests to include updates of speakers on the speaker page, edits to the team page, additions of buttons linking to ticketing sites, updates of sponsor logos, etc.
- Work with the Communications Manager and Executive Director on changes
- They will work with a Website assistant on content to be posted to the site
- At least 3 years of web development experience
- Experience with custom and WordPress themes
- Midlevel skills PHP and CSS programming, as well as how to use/setup plugins
- Ability to write/edit HTML/CSS/jQuery
- Knowledge of SEO basics and validation plug-ins
- History of work using a CMS (Content Management System) format
- Test updated sites across multiple browsers and devices
- Hours will vary depending on the knowledge and skill of developer; however, estimating 6-8 hours per week through November decreasing after the event.
- Year-long volunteer with most activity occurring in H2 of the year (August - December)

About TEDx Seattle TEDxSeattle is one of the first TEDx events offered in the world, and is our region’s premier TED-style event as well as the largest in Washington State. Our premiere event is usually hosted at McCaw Hall, where we guide 2,800 people through a series of TED talks, audience activities, and lobby experiences over the course of a day. We also produce a series of smaller TEDx events around Seattle during the year.
Description
TEDxSeattle is a volunteer-based organization that strives to spread ideas worth sharing. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxSeattle, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxSeattle event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
