DESCRIPTION

Purpose: Serve as the Instructor for Health Innovators’ game design and development program. Instructor will be responsible for teaching principles of game design, level design, story, game theory, basic computer programming, project management, idea creation, 3D modeling and/or animation.

Responsibilities:

• Teach video game design skills.

• Coach and manage a game development team

• Work with volunteers and mentors.

• Teach the Scratch, GameSalad and/or Gamemaker curriculum, including principles of game design, level design, game theory, basic computer programming, project management, idea creation, 3D modeling and animation.

• Set example of best practices in professionalism, leadership, culture, creativity and diversity.

• Work collaboratively with a high-functioning group.

• Maintain an excellent work ethic, a high level of energy and exceptional enthusiasm.

• Handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of video games preferably modern console platforms/titles and independent games.

• Some experience in game design, project management, animation and/or at least 4 years of teaching, administration or instruction in a school.

• Knowledge of Scratch, Gamemaker, GameSalad, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoDesk Sketchbook, Maya, Motion, Tinkercad and Minecraft.

• Ability to learn design and game development platforms (see above).

• Unity, HTML, CSS, Javascript experience is not required but highly regarded.

• Demonstrated understanding of video game design, development and project management.

The primary deliverable for Health Innovators is for our class attendees to build a functioning video game. We value personal creativity which allows for some creative flexibility in this position provided this goal is met.
