Volunteers at Emergency Food Network’s Repack Project prepare bulk foods for distribution by repackaging the foods into smaller, family-size portions. Bulk foods include rice, beans, oats, frozen corn and peas, oranges, and apples. Once repackaged the food is ready to go out to the 71 Pierce County food banks, meal sites, and shelters that we serve. Each year, volunteers repackage more than 1.5 million pounds of food or what is equivalent to 3 meals-a-day for 285 families!
No experience is necessary but most of the volunteer positions require volunteers to lift up to 50 pounds (if you are unable to lift this, please notify us when you register). EFN staff provide training and supervision. Space is limited and registration is required. The minimum age to volunteer at the Repack is 16 (youth ages 12-15 can volunteer with a parent or guardian).
This Repack Project is great for individual volunteers or small groups! Groups up to 15 in size can reserve their own Repack Project! Repacks provide a great team-building experience while giving back to the community. Group Repacks can be scheduled Wednesday through Saturday with morning and afternoon sessions available. Give us a call at (253) 584-1040 to learn more.
To register, please contact EFN's Coordinator of Volunteer Activities at firstname.lastname@example.org or (253) 584-1040.
