Waukesha County is bursting at the seems with children in foster care- either with a community placement or relative provider, like a grandparent (called a kinship family).
We are seeking volunteers to help provide childcare at our agency during our education and respite events for these foster and kinship children. We ask volunteers to eat dinner with the children, assist them with their homework, and play games or activities with them.
Childcare is on of the biggest challenges for foster and kinship families, so this provides these foster parent and grandparents an opportunity to engage in these workshops while their foster kids are supervised onsite.
There may be additional opportunities, such as seasonal events like pumpkin carving to assist with as well.
Kids range in ages from newborn to 13 years. You will always volunteer with other volunteers and staff. Shifts are generally once per month on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:45, and the third Thursday of each month from 5:30-8:00.
If you enjoy working with children and want to learn more about the fostering community this might be the perfect opportunity for you!
Contact us today to help this great cause!
