Being a foster parent is very rewarding but can be challenging too. Therefore, Waukesha County offers foster families educational, respite, and family fun event opportunities. We are seeking additional support for these events and our families! If you enjoy working with children or want to learn more about the fostering community this might be the perfect opportunity for you!
Volunteers will be asked to assist with minimally 1 event per month. That includes:
-leading preselected children's activities such as pumpkin carving, facepainting, arts and crafts, games, etc for families to participate in
-supervising and providing enrichment for foster children while their foster parents are in the classroom
-ensuring children attempt to eat their meals when provided- we all know how picky kids are! Food also provided for volunteers
-assist with operations of our clothing closet while foster families are present. This can include sorting and hanging donations. But the bulk of it is helping foster parents locate size and season appropriate clothing for their children. Help them "go shopping"!
We offer multiple events per month for foster families to participate in. We are seeking a team to help make these events possible. Most events take place in the evening due to work and school schedules, so evening availability is a must.
