Purpose:
This is a national youth preparedness program offered by Red Cross across the country. The 40-60 minute presentation provides emergency preparedness education to youth in grades 3-5 (ages 8-11) in school classrooms and other settings. This program includes standardized curriculum, workbook, quizzes and activities which have been carefully constructed with the help of curriculum and hazard experts. The interactive presentation addresses home fire safety, a local natural hazard, psycho-social coping skills and household preparedness steps like making a plan and a kit. The Disney Pillowcase Project Trainer will support the development of Pillowcase Project Presenters and Presentation Assistants through providing instructor led training of the Pillowcase Project Presenter Fundamentals course.
Key Responsibilities:
The Pillowcase Project Trainer responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Attend a Train-the-Trainer the Pillowcase workshop approved by the Regoinal Pillowcase Program Manager
- Successfully complete the Basic Instructor Fundamentals (60-75 minute online course), Pillowcase Project Presenter Fundamentals Module I (60-90 minute web-based or 3-hour instructor led course) and Pillowcase Project Presenter Fundamentals Module 2 (in person teach backs which take approximately 3 hours)
- Plan and lead Presenter Trainings using NHQ developed resources (Instructor Manual, Participant GUide and PowerPoint Training Presentation)
- Responsible for training individuals to present The Pillowcase Project curriculum proficiently
- Present program to student audiences (if desired)
