Do you have a subject that you loved in school?
Would you like to pass that love on to a high school student?
Or did you struggle in school, and did someone help you overcome challenges with academics?
Would you like to give the gift of similar support to a current high school student?
We are seeking volunteers who can give 1-2 hours per week, or more, to tutor a student at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School at the CSV Tutoring Center. We provide support, copies of textbooks, and a certified teacher in the room for every session. We need patient, caring volunteers who can commit to at least one semester. Generally, you will work with one particular student (or, less frequently, a small group of students) to provide support in a particular subject. We have a good number of students for whom English is a second language, so English and writing support are always needed. We also have many students ask for help in math (all levels, algebra to calculus), physics, chemistry, biology, foreign languages, and history.
This opportunity is a great way to connect with a student from your local community and help him or her to succeed in school.
