Have you served in the Military?

Overlook Hospice is recruiting Volunteers who have served in the Military to help our Veteran hospice patients.

Veterans have unique needs at end of life which are best served by another Veteran. Your experience helps you relate to and connect with our Veteran patients and their families.

What veteran hospice patients need:

  • An opportunity for life review and healing
  • Help documenting memories
  • Assistance with replacing lost medals
  • Support with transportation and errands
  • Appreciation for their service

What you have to share:

  • Common life experiences
  • Shared language and service
  • A mutual code of conduct and honor
  • First-hand appreciation of their service
  • Cultural bonds to foster trust

Please consider participating in this innovative program for serving Veterans at the end of life.

Mission Statement

Setting the Standard of Excellence One Individual at a Time!

Description

Hospice care is considered to be the model for quality and compassionate care for people facing a terminal illness. At the center of hospice care is the belief that each of us has the right to die pain-free, with dignity and the comfort of knowing our families will receive the necessary support to allow us to do so.

Overlook Hospice Services provides a program of care to meet the needs of individuals, and their caregivers, nearing the end of life’s journey. Skilled professionals and dedicated volunteers help support both the patient and their families. Hospice Services helps relieve the physical, emotional, and social pain, which enables the seriously ill person to life at home with family, comfort and dignity. The support provides help to cope with the circumstances associated with a terminal illness

Hospice care is a philosophy of care that accepts dying as a natural part of life. When death is inevitable, hospice seeks neither to hasten nor postpone it.
