Safe Place for Pets supports terminally ill pet owners in our community by rehoming their beloved pets and helping those not yet ready to give up their pets, to keep them at home with them as long as possible. We are currently in urgent need of a Wellness Coordinator to support our Wellness clients in keeping their pets with them as long as possible.

Location: Must live in the Colorado Springs, CO area.

Tasks include:

• Communicate with Wellness Program volunteers and clients on a regular basis regarding issues including the pet’s health and the potential client’s health and financial wellbeing.
• Act in the best interest of the pets that may come into the Safe Place for Pets program.
• Work with Volunteer Coordinator to assign a volunteer to work with the potential client.
• Train new volunteers and coach current volunteers on any procedures.
• Maintain and modify the Wellness Program policies and procedures as needed.
• Monitor that all Wellness Program policies and procedures are followed.
• Inventory supplies needed for the Wellness Program and request supplies when needed.
• This is a Board position -- attend all board meetings.

Requirements:

• Passion for helping the terminally ill and their animals.
• Must have access to a computer with Microsoft Office, e-mail, and a printer.
• Must have access to a telephone which will be used to contact volunteers and potential clients.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Volunteer abides by and actively supports the mission and values of Safe Place for Pets.
