Literacy Connections of the Hudson Valley

We help Adults in the Community who are struggling with their reading, writing and/or speaking.

We are a non-profit that trains, matches and supports Volunteer Tutors so that they can work in the community with an Adult who has been interviewed, assessed and tested by us. We work at all levels! Some of our students cannot read at all and others cannot quite pass their TASC (formerly GED). Some of our students get off a plane from a foreign country on a Tuesday and are in our office on Wednesday with a relative or friend, inquiring about our ESL Classes.

This One Hour Online Orientation is to introduce you to our agency. Upon completion of the Orientation, you will have the opportunity to sign up for the online training. Our Program Coordinators support all Volunteers every step of the way with goal setting, teaching methods, materials and matches. Your Program Coordinator will work with you directly to ensure a quality Volunteer Experience. We love all of our volunteers, whether they are with us for 3 months or 3 years. Some of our volunteers have been with us for 30 years!!

By lifting up those that are the most vulnerable in the community, we are also lifting up ourselves and the towns that we reside in. We see big and small goals every week: driver's licenses, green cards, college enrollment and employment are just some of the many things that our students are working towards. Many of our students have had very hard lives, filled with obstacles and tragedy. By simply helping, you become not only a tutor, but also a mentor, someone who becomes a voice for the voiceless. Join us today and become part of dynamic, social and progressive organization.
