Do you enjoy writing? The Salvation Army is in need of a content writer to help share the many ways we are helping individual's and families' in communities all over Alameda County.

We are looking for someone who enjoys sharing great news and can write short articles or posts about how lives are impacted through our humanitarian efforts; we help individuals, children and families in need through meals, food distribution, shelter, emergency needs and disasters, and are a community resource for families living on the edge of poverty. If you are interested, we would like to have you join our team and discover the many ways you can help us help our community.

As a volunteer content writer you will share our story through articles and media mentions based on interviews and personal experiences. You'll work with a team who interviews recipients of our services and help develop a plan to share the social impact we make and the lives that are being transformed. Articles will be posted to social media, web sites, and traditional media outlets. Schedule is flexible.

Responsibilities:

• Attend initial training to understand The Salvation Army's mission, impact in the community and the requirements of the position.
• Working with the Volunteer Coordinator to developing content for media and web site platforms
• Writing, editing and proofreading text

Skills:

• Ability to meet time commitments
• Excellent written communication
• A good grasp of narrative
• Awareness of audiences
