Truck drivers urgently wanted!!! Truck drivers and helpers to help load/unload furniture are especially needed now. A valid driver's license and DOT physical exam at the Health Enhancement Center is required for truck drivers, but the cost for the exam is paid by SVdP. Furniture for delivery on Saturday is loaded on Friday afternoon, and usually takes less than an hour. The truck delivers sold furniture and picks up donated furniture on Saturdays from approximately 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. A schedule is maintained for drivers and helpers, so you can choose dates when you're available. Furniture department sales persons are also needed on Thursday or Saturday afternoons.
Other in-person opportunities are again available. The Food Pantry is open Tuesdays from 1-4 pm and Saturdays from 9 am-noon, on a drive-through basis. Other mornings, volunteers help pick up food at local supermarkets or unload the food truck at the Center. The Thrift Store is open 1-4 pm on Thursdays and Saturdays, and sales people are needed. Other times during the week are available for volunteers to help prepare items for sale. We have taken preventive measures with social distancing, customer limits and other ways to help safeguard volunteers and clients during this Covid-19 time.
We'd love to have local businesses sponsor one of their employee's time for a few hours a week. Sorry, because of the Pandemic, we cannot accept student help or large groups at this time.
People with grant writing, website, marketing/fundraising or other administrative experience also welcome! Many of these tasks can be done at home. If you can give us a few hours a week, or a few hours a month, all is appreciated to help area needy. Come and join us help improve lives...and make new friends!
Thank you for your consideration of this worthy charity. We are 100% volunteer driven. Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
