The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
Volunteers picking up donated furniture and delivering to the store.
Opportunities are available in our Thrift Center, Boutique, Food Pantry, and Ministries at various times. The Thrift Center and Food Pantry are open 1 - 4 pm on Tuesdays afternoons and Saturday mornings from 9 am - noon.
We also can use able bodied persons of all ages (over 12) to help load/unload the food truck and assist with pick up and delivery of furniture. Currently, food pickup at area grocery stores is Monday-Friday starting around 9 am for a couple of hours. Furniture delivery and pickup of donated items is on Saturday mornings. Drivers are also needed to drive the St. Vincent de Paul truck!
We welcome students and groups. We'd love to have local businesses sponsor one of their employee's time for a few hours a week.
People with grant writing, fundraising, marketing or other administrative experience also needed and welcome! Come and join us help improve lives...and make new friends!
