Purpose/Objective:
The Healthy Start Military Family Resource Center (HSMFRC) is seeking a highly-motivated volunteer/intern to assist with resources and referrals at our partner school site located in Clairemont. This position provides the opportunity to learn a range of skills like office management, research, communications, and available resources for families in San Diego.
Location:
Clairemont Area
Start Date-End Date:
As early as Mid-August 2017 for 2-4 months or one semester (can volunteer for longer if available).
Responsibilities:
-Assist with researching and compiling community resources for Field Elementary School "family resource binder" that include resources for basic needs including housing, food, childcare, transportation, education, etc.
-Assist with the dissemination of resources by participating in outreach events, phone calls, and meetings with families and the community around resource development and referral
-Assist with translating verbal and written information for Spanish speaking families
Qualifications:
~Must be Bilingual in English/Spanish
~Must be at least 18 years old
~Must be cleared through TB test, drug test, background check
~Will be asked to provide references
~Must have reliable transportation
Time Commitment:
5-10 hours per week, Monday-Friday, during regular business hours, flexible times/depends on volunteer availability. Occasional weekend community events
Training and Support:
Will receive support, supervision, and guidance from Site Supervisor
