Help staff and/or lead weekly events all across the DFW area!

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To support the events function of Dallas Pets Alive (DPA) by assisting at canine and/or feline adoption events which enable members of the public to meet DPA adoptable animals and learn more about the organization’s mission.

SALARY/PAYRATE: Volunteer

TIME REQUIREMENT: 4-8 hours per event (varies by event and role).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Attend adoption events as an official representative of DPA. Venues may include (but are not limited to) dog parks, other outdoor parks, pet stores, breweries, apartment complexes, music festivals, coffee shops, and other retail establishments.

• Handle dogs who are attending events as needed and maintain control over said dogs at all times.

• Be familiar with DPA’s mission and purpose, as well as its rescue program and adoptable pets in general, and be comfortable speaking with members of the public regarding these topics. Training will be provided.

• Assist with sales of merchandise at events.

• Participate in setup and tear down of event site and supplies.

• Transport supplies to the event upon request.

• Follow other instructions from the event lead as needed or requested.

• Participate in at least one event every 6-8 weeks, in order to stay current on DPA events protocol and the organization in general and develop relationships with other event volunteers.

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS: Correspondence with events team and volunteer team regarding event logistics. Ongoing interaction with the public, venue hosts, and DPA supporters during events.

CONTROLS OVER WORK: This position reports directly to the event lead for the day’s event, as well as the Events Director, Vice President - Administration and the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be proficient with the use of email and have regular phone access.

• Must display a positive attitude at all times and present DPA in a positive manner to the public.

• Must be flexible regarding assigned tasks and willing to move to a different task as needed to ensure a successful event, as instructed by the event lead.

• Must understand and appreciate the critical importance of volunteers at events and be willing to follow through on all event attendance commitments, except in case of an emergency that is communicated to the event lead.

• Must be at least 18 years of age, or be accompanied by a parent at all times during events.
