The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
Each year we host a variety of educational events focused on bringing people together to learn more about a social justice issue. Sound like something you would love to be a part of? We are looking for someone who loves events to help us with planning and implementation.
Assist with planning a variety of events, ranging from educational trainings to fundraisers
Solicit for event sponsors
Plan details of events including creating agenda, identifying needed resources, and advertising
Engage other volunteers to fill roles for the day(s) of events (greeters, set-up, etc)
Assist with coming up with event ideas
Training and Support
Orientation to the organization and programs
Orientation provided on our event planning strategy
Ongoing support from staff and other volunteers
Professional experience in event planning
2-6 hours a month
1 year commitment
Flexible work location, can either work remotely or from the FNVW office
