Las Trampas is a 501(c) 3 organization that supports adults with developmental disabilities to discover their capabilities and to lead full lives in their home, at work, and in the community.

The Las Trampas Board of Directors is composed of leaders from the nonprofit and for-profit sector who are dedicated to the organization’s vision of being the service provider of choice for adults with developmental disabilities in Contra Costa County, CA.

Our board members champion the importance of exceptional board leadership and believe - as we do - that each and every organization needs a strong and effective board to fully realize its potential for good. In addition to the standard roles and responsibilities of a board member, our board members are active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and are fully engaged in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for Las Trampas to advance its mission.

Job Description - Las Trampas Board of Directors:

The Las Trampas Board of Directors is composed of leaders from the nonprofit and for-profit sector who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. Serving on the Las Trampas Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting adults with development disabilities to discover their capabilities and to lead full lives in their home, at work, and in the community.

Board members are expected to have financial acumen to read and understand Las Trampas’ financial statements and otherwise help the board fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities.

Board members are expected to attend 8 Board meetings per year. They are expected to read board materials in advance of board meetings and come prepared to ask questions and participate in discussions.

Board members are expected to serve on one or more committees of the board and to actively participate in committee work.

Board members are expected to play an active role in securing the financial resources necessary for Las Trampas to achieve its mission. Board members are expected to leverage personal relationships and connections to help the development committee and staff identify and solicit potential funders, as well as directly invest in Las Trampas’ work by making a personal contribution each year.

Board members are expected to responsibly represent Las Trampas to their respective communities and to advocate for Las Trampas’ mission, programs, and services as appropriate.


Human Resources Professional


Las Trampas, inc. seeks a human resources professional who understands talent and change management, as well as HR best practices, which can be applied to how the board manages itself and the Executive Director. The ideal candidate will bring a human resources lens to strategic planning and decision-making and be a resource to staff.
Ideally, we’re looking for an individual who is knowledgeable about he laws of the State of CA to serve as a guide to our Executive Director with regard to the employees of Las Trampas by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and providing guidance and expertise regarding employee-related issues and/or concerns. This may include analyzing and modifying compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements to mitigate potential employee-related risks.

It would be highly desirable if this person is knowledgeable on the principles and procedures for personnel recruitment and retention, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources is also desired. Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, and agency rules is very important.
