Purpose:
The American Red Cross Disaster Cycle Services launched Sound the Alarm in October 2014. Its goal is to reduce the rate of deaths and injuries due to home fires by 25% over 5 years. Its strategy includes participating in a community coalition that targets neighborhoods at risk for home fires; installs and tests smoke alarms; and provides fire safety and disaster preparedness education/planning. This position will establish teams, meetings, routes, communication protocol, training, reporting and breakdown of event.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports the Sound the Alarm leadership team with planning, implementation and evaluation
- Provides support to the Home Visit Teams
- Coordinate volunteers
- Plan routes for teams
- Set appointments
- Make phone calls
- Help with supply inventory
- Confirm that all volunteers placed on home visit teams have completed volunteer prerequisites (age, read and agree to Red Cross policies, background check and training)
- Establish communication protocols.
- Follow all guidelines, training, safety and documentation requirments for this task.
- Input all data gathered into the reporting website and file paperwork.
- Gather and input volunteer hours
