Join neighbors and friends as we kick off this new project to make the Leary Way Green Space a treasured neighborhood landscape. Help us remove aggressive weeds that threaten more than 25 beautiful mature trees on site, and to spread mulch to stop new growth. No experience necessary and volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome. The site is located along the 28 & 40 bus routes and there is also nearby street parking.
What to bring: Please come prepared with weather appropriate clothes, close-toed shoes, and a water bottle. We’ll provide coffee, snacks, gloves, tools and training! No experience necessary!
This event is held in partnership with the City of Seattle’s Trees for Seattle Tree Ambassador program.

Description
Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
