ORGANIZATION: Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Inc

The Social Media intern will gain experience in a variety of areas within Catholic Charities, including but not limited to: social media and website content updates, video production, grant writing, and assisting with donor events. The intern will receive a unique experience by being involved in our Rebranding Campaign. They will also receive training on Raiser’s Edge database - the most used and recognizable database among nonprofits!

Essential Functions

  • Assist with the support and updating of Social Media and web content
  • Research opportunities and strategies to expand social media outreach beyond Facebook/Twitter/YouTube
  • Assist in creating a Catholic Charities Best Practice Strategic guide
  • Assist in the production of podcasts or video segments for Advancement and Legal Services for Immigrants departments. The intern will be responsible for script writing, shooting, editing and posting the footage
  • Support the Public Relation strategic goals by writing for print materials, client stories for appeals and newsletters for the immigrant community
  • Assist the Advancement Team in researching, proofing and writing Grants
  • Adhere to, and complete all internship and practicum requirements as prescribed by the intern’s educational institution.
  • Record internship hours by method agreed upon with the Volunteer Coordinator

Position Qualifications/Requirements

Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities

  • Strong commitment to the mission and the vision of Catholic Charities including a working knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching,
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Able to tactfully address confidential matters efficiently and discretely,
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a passion for developing and maintaining strong relationships through Agency knowledge, personality, and communication. Persuasive and tactful, while performing required functions and obtaining Agency goals,
  • Team player, who builds and fosters collaborative relationships with coworkers,
  • Confident, autonomous self-starter who has a passion for learning and growing and applying their new knowledge and skills

Education and/or Experience

  • Junior Status, pursuing a degree in Communications, Digital Media, Community Leadership,
  • Prior experience with communications, graphic design, or digital media; prior internship experience is a plus
  • Has an interest in working for or learning more about Non-Profits
