A Free Bird is a 501(C)(3)non-profit organization based in New York City. Our focus is to provide children, ages 6-18 who are patients or survivors of juvenile cancer, the opportunity to explore their artistic passions and give them the strength to fight their disease. We believe that artistic expression is critical for healing! A Free Bird supports children affected by cancer in their exploration of art, music, acting, poetry, writing, singing, and any other artistic passion they may have.

A Fundraising Program which enables the public to provide direct sponsorship to the child. Reaching out to companies and individuals who are willing to sponsor a child that the organization has within the Programs Department. This person must feel comfortable with phone calls, speaking to people in person, and reaching out via email. You will report back to the VP of Fundraising, creating graphs and charts using the Google Docs. Must be comfortable with Social media and be able to post about the organization and what sponsor a child has to offer the community. Being in contact with the Programs Department on the children that are available and what company will be sponsoring which child.

Requirements:

  • Have availability of 10-12 hours per week.
  • Understanding of Google Docs, and Excel Spreadsheets
  • Organized and professional
  • Great Communication Skills
  • Be fluent on all social media platforms.
  • Willing to work individually as well as in a team environment.
  • Report back to the VP of Fundraising with progress as well as the Founder of the organization.
  • Have some availability for the weekend.
  • Be comfortable on social media platforms

Due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 and its severity, this will be a remote work from home position. The organization has committed to our interns/volunteers’ health and we will adapt to the new working environment accordingly. A Free Bird is building our services even in this difficult time of the coronavirus to provide the best services to the children and are looking for self-motivated and hardworking individuals. Proper at-home working capabilities include Laptop, SmartPhone, and connection to WiFi/internet. Must be available to have a phone/video conversation at least once per week.
