Heartland Hospice is seeking kind, compassionate, and dependable volunteers to be friendly visitors to our hospice patients. As a hospice volunteer, you will be an important part of the hospice team. As a Friendly Visitor Volunteer, you can provide much-needed companionship by visiting with patients in their homes. Activities that our volunteers do include:

- Engaging in friendly conversation
- Reading and writing with the patient
- Playing games
- Sharing hobbies
- Playing music and singing
- Watching TV/Movies with patient
- Helping with household duties the patient might not be able to do
- Errands
- Caregiver relief
- And Much Much More!!!

We provide full training in Hospice philosophy and volunteer duties. Orientation and on-going training provided! Background and reference check required. Volunteer will be driving to patients home for visits, so you will need a reliable mode of transportation. We will work with your schedule!

Volunteers must be 18 years or older to volunteer directly with patients. No previous training or volunteer work required. You must have your own reliable vehicle and be willing to travel to visit patients. We are not taking any court ordered community service volunteers at this time. Below is a list of the communities that we serve:

Counties Served: Richmond City, Chesterfield, Henrico, Goochland, Hanover, New Kent, Powhatan, Colonial Heights City, Hopewell City, Petersburg City, Louisa, Amelia, Caroline, Cumberland, Dinwiddie, King and Queen, King William, and Prince George.

Heartland Hospice is recruiting for volunteers to provide friendly visits and caregiver relief/respite sitting for terminally ill patients and their families. We have many ways for volunteers to engage and change the lives of our patients. If you have the heart for it, we welcome your willingness to serve.
