Volunteer Art Teacher June 15-30 th

Hello,

We are seeking a volunteer Art Teacher from June 15 th -30 th teaching older adults in a creative aging art program in Astoria. We offer Watercolors, Acrylic, beads and sketching classes and are open to other art forms.

Our art teacher has won a residency in Greece and we do not have funds for a substitute. I am seeking an unpaid volunteer or person needing internship experience to work as an art instructor.

Classes start at 9am and can end at 11:30 with an option to open the classroom from 12:30 to 3pm. Although classes are offered all weekdays we can work with your schedule. Say you are only available Thursday and we find someone who is available Monday and Friday etc.

The art class is comprised of persons over the age of 60 many of whom have been working for 3 years and have learned professional techniques. The class is very dedicated to art and are amazing people. Please note the photo is from the first week of class 3 years ago and they are now much further along!

The instructor will be provided with supplies and will be responsible for ensuring they are put away and that the room is locked when not in use. This is unpaid volunteer work that will benefit older adults many of whom are below the poverty line. All the classes are free for participants and the only requirement is free registration and being over the age of 60. HANAC is a 501c3 not for profit organization.

Please respond via email to Allison at asimmons@hanac.org
