Love pets? Can't adopt or foster at the moment? Consider becoming an adoption ambassador!! An adoption ambassador chooses a pet here at the shelter, shares them on their social medica page, takes them out for the day or to one of our adoption events over the weekend! We supply business cards for you to pass out with information about your chosen pet, a colorful leash/harness and a T-shirt for you to wear!

The Mission of the South Suburban Humane Society is to protect and promote the well being of pets and their people in our community and beyond.
Description
The South Suburban Humane Society is a 501(c )(3) organization that was started in 1970, serving the animal welfare needs of the entire south suburbs of Chicago. In the beginning, we handled all rescues, adoptions and provided foster care out of private homes. Since November 1973, our organization has been operating a 10,000 square foot open-door animal shelter in Chicago Heights, Illinois.
