Mission Statement

The South Suburban Humane Society is dedicated to promoting the well being of animals in those communities we serve through the care and sheltering of animals needing protection, investigative practices that will prevent abuse, the education of the public as to ownership responsibilities and providing adoption services.

Description

The South Suburban Humane Society is a 501(c )(3) organization that was started in 1970, serving the animal welfare needs of the entire south suburbs of Chicago. In the beginning, we handled all rescues, adoptions and provided foster care out of private homes. Since November 1973, our organization has been operating a 10,000 square foot open-door animal shelter in Chicago Heights, Illinois.
