Are you interested in learning more about the importance of forests? A teacher looking to involve students in hands-on learning? How about a neighbor wanting to connect your community to a forest restoration project? Or maybe you are ready to become a Forest Steward and lead volunteer events with the Green Tukwila Partnership?
Then you should come to our Green Tukwila Orientation on June 3rd, which will be a great opportunity to learn more about the Green Tukwila Partnership and our effort to restore and care for 138 acres of Tukwila’s forests and greenspaces. You can also learn about opportunities to care for a local park or natural area by being trained as a Forest Steward. The event is open to anyone that wants to find out more about how groups and individuals can be a part of our vision!

Mission Statement
Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.
Description
Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
