CAAWS is run solely by unpaid volunteers and is governed by a Board of Directors. Love cats? This is the job for you. Come help take care of our shelter's cats for 2-3 hours. You will need to do general clean up (sweeping, mopping, scooping liter, disinfecting), give medications if needed, feed, give fresh water, play, and love on all of our cats and kittens. We ask that you commit to the same shift every week. (Shift availablity varies).

Mission Statement

The Capital Area Animal Welfare Society (CAAWS) is a non-profit organization committed to the well-being of animals in the Baton Rouge community by providing, facilitating, and promoting spay/neuter, adopting or facilitating the adoption of homeless animals, teaching the community responsible companion animal ownership and the humane treatment of animals, and at all times promoting the practice of spay/neuter.

Description

With the help of volunteers, CAAWS offers a number of services and programs that strive to promote animal welfare within the Baton Rouge community. Humane Education and companion ownership, Pet Touch Therapy, Feral Cat Program, Community Assistance Spay and Neuter Program, and Adoptions are all outstanding programs and services provided by the organization.
