Project Northstar is a one-on-one tutoring and mentoring program for low-income kids living in Washington D.C. This summer, we are holding our 4 th year of summer day camp for students in Pre-K through 6 th grade! For six weeks (Starting July 10th and ending August 11 th) our students will join us from 10:00 am -3:00 pm every Monday-Friday in Columbia Heights.
During this time we will spend two hours a day working on academic enrichment to ensure our students are prepared for the upcoming school year (focusing on math, reading and writing skills), while also participating in creative art projects, athletics, extracurricular outings, and other fun activities.
We are looking for volunteers to come work with the kids (in small groups of 2-3 students) on math, reading and/or writing, and/or who may be interested in helping with the non-academic activities. Volunteer hours are flexible and part-time volunteering is always an option.
For more information, please contact Jennifer Townsend at ProjectNorthstarDC@gmail.com.
