CLASSIFICATION: Events & Donor Relations Intern
POSITION PROFILE:
Positively impact the lives of children and families while gaining valuable experience at one of the largest nonprofits in the county. SAY San Diego offer social services to more than 70,000 San Diegans every year through child and youth development, family support services, and community engagement. SAY provides thousands of individuals with advocacy, prevention, and outreach in over 30 programs at more than 40 sites throughout our diverse community.
SAY San Diego’s Resource Development Department is seeking a highly-motivated intern to assist with event planning and administration as well as donor relations. The Events & Donor Relations Intern position provides the opportunity to learn a broad range of skills like event planning, marketing, communications, grant research, and donor relations.
DATES:
- Schedule is flexible between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday (see #/hours above)
- Must be available noon-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 27
ESSENTIAL INTERN FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide event support (fundraising events, receptions, in-kind drives)
Help secure in-kind donations for events
Assist with marketing efforts
Donor outreach and communications
Provide research support for communications and grant activity
Respond to general information inquiries
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Certifications):
Customer service/communication with the public
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement activities
Microsoft Office
Ability to take initiative, multitask and be detail oriented
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear
Required to walk; use hands and arms to perform repetitive motions; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Lift and/or move boxes up to 20 pounds
Perform in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level
Moderate dexterity application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, eye/hand coordination)
