Partners in Housing is hosting its annual Every Mother Matters celebration - a family day of fun and education on Saturday, May 13, for single mothers and their children participating in our one-year self-sufficiency program. Women with children make up a large part of the "invisible" homeless crisis in our community - women who have been driven into desperate circumstances due to domestic violence, job loss, or illness.
Each year, we seek to recognize and appreciate those who have joined our program as they strive to improve their education, and life skills, gain meaningful work, and achieve lasting self-sufficiency.
During our special event, mothers will enjoy self-care workshops, yoga, massages and haircuts - services coordinated for us by Leadership Pikes Peak. Children attending will create Mothers-Day cards (with the help of ANB Bank volunteers) and join a safety class led by members of the Colorado Springs Fire Department. Additionally, kids will be provided with flowers (donated by The Woman’s Club of Colorado Springs) to give mom on her special day. Each mother will also receive a personal hygiene basket, arranged with help from Pikes Peak United Way.
How can you help us? Your donation of brand new crock pots (any size) can help us celebrate these brave women who are working so hard to return to stability and independence. Description
Partners in Housing is a Colorado Springs non-profit that provides a year of transitional housing and supportive services to families experiencing or at imminent risk of homelessness. We have 68 housing units that range in size from motel-style apartments to single-family homes. We have both centralized and scattered locations. We provide families in our Family Self-Sufficiency Program one-on-one budget and credit counseling, individualized case management, resource navigation, housing navigation, career readiness sessions, life skills classes, access to two free Donation Centers (includes items such as canned goods, hygiene products, diapers, kitchenware, bedding, clothing, furniture, and mattresses), and on-site childcare. Last year, 90% of the families in our program successfully moved onto safe and stable housing upon graduation.
