ACES (Athletes Committed to Educating Students) is an after-school program that develops the academic and social-emotional skills of 4-8 th grade students in underserved communities. ACES’ innovative curriculum blends sports and math concepts to spark learning. ACES programs are based at schools and Boys & Girls Clubs in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. ACES’ vision is to help students succeed in education and beyond and become engaged citizens in safe and equitable communities.

About the Position

ACES Classroom Volunteers will help improve the academic progress of students by assisting in the facilitation of hands-on activities focused on building math and social-emotional skills. Classroom volunteers will work with an ACES Academic Coach, or classroom teacher, in a classroom of approximately 8-12 students. Relationship-building is a fundamental part of the program. Because of this, ACES stresses regular and consistent attendance at program over an extended period (one semester session minimum). Previous classroom or 1:1 tutoring experience suggested, but not required. The ACES Classroom Volunteer position is an opportunity ideal for prospective educators.
