Help one of our clients gain independance and empowerment by helping her pass her permit test. An adult learner whose second language is english needs assistance in understanding Virginia driving rules and gaining the confidence to take her permit exam. You will meet at a starbucks in a community where she is comfortable for one weekday morning a week (mondays or fridays for an hour between 10am-12:30pm depending on volunteer's availability). Due to the safety concerns involved with our clients a background check is required to volunteer. The Mission of Safe Places is to provide families who are homeless as a result of domestic violence with safety and shelter while empowering them to break the cycle and live free of abuse.

Description

We provide 24-month transitional housing to families who are homeless as a result of domestic violence. We empower survivors of domestic violence through :

  • Strength-based case management
  • Individual financial counseling
  • The goal of self-sufficiency
  • Affordable housing search assistance
  • Referrals for services such as abuse counseling, legal aid, and immigration
