Spanish Translator at Food Pantry
Initiative: Beyond the Basics
Impact area: Basic needs (food, clothing, housing)
Location(s): East Hartford
Hours: Weekday mornings and afternoons
Desired level of commitment: Once per month, three hours
Duration: Year-round
Age requirement: 18+
Tasks may include:
* Greeting Spanish speaking community members at their cars
* Assisting Spanish speaking community members by verbally translating intake forms or other necessary information so that families can receive the food they need
In order to volunteer, you should be:
* A registered UAServe volunteer (you will have a chance to register if you haven't already)
* Willing to attend an orientation prior to volunteering
* Willing to submit a background check
* Willing to complete a Waiver of Liability Relating to COVID-19
* Willing to follow COVID-19 Volunteer Safety Protocol
* Open to an ongoing volunteer commitment that works with your schedule
* Personable
* Reliable
* Patient
* Honest
* Bilingual (fluent Spanish/English)
* Volunteers must be of Christian faith to serve with this opportunity.
