Shopping Assistant at Food Pantry
Initiative: Beyond the Basics
Impact area: Basic needs (food, clothing, housing)
Location(s): East Hartford, CT
Hours: Weekday and weekend mornings
Desired level of commitment: Once per month, three hours
Duration: Year-round
Age requirement: 18+
Tasks may include:
* Greeting and interacting with community members
* Helping guide community members through pantry
* Making food choice recommendations
* Loading carts and boxes with food
In order to volunteer, you should be:
* A registered UAServe volunteer (you will have a chance to register if you haven't already)
* Willing to attend an orientation prior to volunteering
* Willing to submit a background check
* Willing to complete a Waiver of Liability Relating to COVID-19
* Willing to follow COVID-19 Volunteer Safety Protocol
* Open to an ongoing volunteer commitment that works with your schedule
* Reliable
* Patient
* Friendly
* Able to lift 5-10 lbs.
* Spanish-speaking skills a plus
*Volunteers must be of Christian faith to serve with this opportunity.
