Quality of care is one of the cornerstones of our mission - a mission that could not be accomplished without the many 'helping hands' of our volunteers. We are seeking licensed cosmetologists and barbers who are interested in providing in-home haircuts to our patients. When facing the end of life, maintaining one's dignity and sense of being oneself are imperative. Providing a haircut to a patient who cannot leave his or her home is a treasured gift to both the patient and their family.

Our patients reside in Washtenaw, Livingston, Lenawee, Jackson, and Monroe counties. Visits take place in patients' own homes, as well as nursing homes, assisted living, memory care, group homes, and hospitals. Our hospice volunteers have shared that they find their work to be personally gratifying and meaningful, and we hope that you will share in this experience.

Volunteers will be provided with ongoing one-on-one staff support throughout their service with us, and will be invited to ongoing education opportunities, and appreciation events. Our volunteers must complete an online application, interview, background checks, an orientation class, fingerprinting, and annual TB testing, and provide a copy of current licensure.

Arbor Hospice requires that any person who has suffered a personal loss wait a period of 12 months prior to volunteering. Thank you for considering this enriching and unique volunteer opportunity.
