Our clients are leaving a domestic violence shelter for their own apartment. They will have this home with their children for two years and we want them to move into a home that is furnished, and set up to welcome them. Volunteers will help move furniture into the home, make the beds, hang artwork, unpack the kitchen and make a welcome home sign to greet the family. This opportuniy is great for groups. Must be 16 or over to participate in this volunteer opportunity. Location will be disclosed following a background check--event may take place anywhere in Fairfax County, the Volunteer Coordinator will work with the group to assign a location that is accessible to them.

The Mission of Safe Places is to provide families who are homeless as a result of domestic violence with safety and shelter while empowering them to break the cycle and live free of abuse.
Description
We provide 24-month transitional housing to families who are homeless as a result of domestic violence. We empower survivors of domestic violence through :
- Strength-based case management
- Individual financial counseling
- The goal of self-sufficiency
- Affordable housing search assistance
- Referrals for services such as abuse counseling, legal aid, and immigration
