ORGANIZATION: Community Action Marin

The Career Coaching position is available to anyone and everyone who is interested in bettering the community through encouraging and supporting low income individuals in achieving their goals. Sparkpoint Marin has provided a service to clients that helps identify their goals, develop a step by step action plan and keep clients on track. Their services focus on key elements of financial stability and prosperity such as managing credit, increasing income and building assets. We define prosperity as 1. Earning a self sufficient income 2. Increasing one's credit score to 700+ 3. Having no revolving debt and 4. Building enough savings to cover at least three months of living expenses.

We serve the community and help to people reach both economic and social self sufficiency, and in the last year 89% of our clients made progress toward prosperity and 42% achieved a long term financial goal.

We want your assistance in supporting and coaching individuals and helping the community reach its goal of alleviating poverty in Marin.

We provide the training and teach you all you need to know to be a career coach here at Community Action Marin's Sparkpoint headquarters. You can commit as much or as little as 4 hours/ day a week with a minimum of a 6 month commitment. The 6 month commitment or longer is crucial for building relationships with your clients who will learn to trust you and appreciate your guidance and support.

Community Action Marin's programs include: BASIC HUMAN NEEDS: Emergency Family Needs Fund, Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) EARLY CHILDHOOD & FAMILY DEVELOPMENT: Head Start and Early Head Start, Marin Community Child Development Centers for families of low income FINANCIAL EDUCATION & TAX PREPARATION: Sparkpoint Marin financial, budgeting, and career coaching, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Homeless Outreach Team and housing supportive services Each program offers volunteer and employment opportunities geared toward specific program needs.
