ROLE: The Program Evaluation Intern will conduct a research project to assess the social impact of our hunger relief meals upon our recipient partners’ clientele. The Program Evaluation Intern will develop and implement a research design that addresses the key research questions: "What are the impacts of Kitchens for Good’s meals on our recipient partners and their clientele? Do KFG meals have a lasting impact on the health and wellness of our recipients"?
ACTIVITIES:
Draft a brief literature review on existing research (social implications of increased access to healthy food)
Develop a research design proposal, including strategies for data collection and a plan for data analysis. Identify data collection tools, determine metrics, and define standards for classifying results.
Collect qualitative and quantitative data that address the central research question. Interview staff and clientele from Kitchens for Good’s hunger relief and senior meal contract partners and administer surveys.
Investigate clients’ opinions about Kitchens for Good and our Project Nourish meal program
Inquire about recipients’ eating habits and other lifestyle choices. Assess if any direct correlation exists between consumption of KFG meals and healthy lifestyle choices
Collect data about recipients’ KFG meal consumption
Organize and code the data according to the research design protocol. Create a report delineating the findings of the research study and recommendations for program changes.
Attend biweekly meetings with Program Director and Volunteer Coordinator to discuss progress and seek feedback/support
TIMES & DATES: ~16 hours / week (3-month service term)
Staff Lead, Volunteer Coordinator, and Program Evaluation Intern will meet to determine weekly schedule.
