Friends of the Camarillo Library

The Membership Assistant will support the Membership Chairperson in maintaining accurate and current membership and donor data for the Friends of the Camarillo Library nonprofit organization. The assistant will receive instruction from the chairperson or other designated person. The assistant will work and interface with board members and other volunteers as well.

Primary duties consist of aiding the chairperson in receiving and processing new and renewing memberships and donations, both in traditional (mailed and hand-delivered to our bookstore) and electronic forms. Duties may also include: performing electronic storage and backup of data; creating reports; maintaining integrity of data; respecting and ensuring confidentiality of membership data.

The assistant will be responsible for implementing a donor management program for the retention and outreach to current and past members and donors. Experience in donor management is preferred; willingness to development a management system will also be considered.


Other Duties

  • Support the organization on annual projects, campaigns, activities and events
  • Use data on membership trends to make recommendations for improvements
  • Attend board meetings and other necessary meetings and report on relevant tasks and progress when the membership chair is unable to attend
  • Assist current members and prospective members with membership-related questions
  • Community outreach
  • Advocate, encourage, and support the membership of the organization

  • Approximately 20 hours per month. These hours vary week-to-week and month-to-month.

Mission Statement

The Friends of the Camarillo Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation run totally by volunteers. Its mission focuses on bringing to the attention and interest of the Camarillo community on the services and facilities of the Camarillo Library. The Friends helps support the Library by providing funding of new book and magazine purchases, library materials and supplies, and year-round library programs for children through seniors.

Description

The Friends of the Camarillo Library is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Camarillo Public Library. The Friends operates a bookstore (located adjacent to the library) that sells gently used books, DVDs, music CDs, and audiobooks that are donated by the generous public. The funds from the bookstore sales, along with membership dues, monetary donations, and bequests, goes towards advancing our mission. The Friends continues to strive to annually donate an average of $200,000 (pre-COVID) to the library.
