Cornerstone Montgomery is looking for welcoming, engaging individuals to serve as Kitchen Companion with our clients and staff at the Knoll Center as well as assist the to our Registered Nurse (RN) managing the healthy foods program. The ideal candidates would be able to provide clients with social engagement opportunities as well as fulfill specific administrative duties associated with the bi-weekly healthy cooking classes that take place with clients in some of our supportive living houses. Volunteers need to be able to pay attention to details, be able to successfully integrate into the Cornerstone Montgomery office setting, as well as lend a helping hand as clients learn how to prepare healthy meals on a budget. We are asking for an ongoing commitment of at least 3 months (90 days).
Skills:
Ability to communicate to small groups and individuals with comfort/ease
Ability to maintain a relaxing and patient persona
Ability to read and follow a recipe
Considerable Patience and Understanding
Have an interest in healthy cooking/healthy living
Ability to be organized and methodical in performance of duties
Ability to snack, talk and laugh with clients and staff
An interest in healthy living/healthy eating is a plus
An interest in serving person with mental health disorders is a plus
Needs to be dependable and reliable
Needs to be available for a daily schedule (both the volunteer and the site supervisor will agree to)
