Senior Companion Volunteers help other adults live fuller, more independent lives. Your time and companionship will enable other adults to remain in their own homes longer, prevent feelings of loneliness and isolation while improving self-esteem and give time off to families or family caregivers. Senior Companions provide weekly social visits, assist with transportation to grocery stores and medical appointments, provide respite care and assist with simple chores.
The Senior Companion Program is open to volunteers age 55 and older who can serve between 15-20 hours a week. You do not need formal experience just time, compassion and the desire to help. You’ll receive pre-service orientation and training. Income eligible volunteers receive a tax-free hourly stipend to help cover costs. All volunteers receive reimbursement for transportation and supplemental accident and liability insurance while in service.
Volunteers are needed in Will, Grundy, Kankakee and Iroquois Counties. Volunteers are assigned to clients in their community, usually within 10 miles of their home.
We are a faith based organization providing service to people in need and calling others of good will to do the same.
