Program Overview:
Masa is a non-profit organization that partners with Mexican and Latino children, youth and families to develop strong learners and leaders who fully contribute to the broader community.
Since 2013, we have run Alianza, a youth support program for recently arrived immigrant youth at International High School at Union Square. Students from Alianza come together for weekly support groups, as well as tutoring and other services. Our participants -- many of whom are unaccompanied minors and have job responsibilities -- are deeply committed to pursuing their education, and they need support in realizing their academic goals. The ideal Alianza Tutor is a dynamic and youth-friendly person who finds value in making a difference in the life of a student. He or She will provide structure tutoring, homework assistance, classroom assistance, and academic workshop facilitation for high school students all to support and encourage students’ academic improvement.
