This would be for Racers Who Care's annual Quick Tips on Winning in Life field trip program for hundreds of area elementary school students. Every two hours during race weekend from Friday morning until about noon on Sunday, we have different groups of students come in. They hear racer presentations and take tours of the Expo area inside the Long Beach Convention Center to watch Pirelli World Challenge crews work on their race cars.

Volunteering for our field trips at Long Beach involves helping to set up our conference room early each morning, greeting elementary school students as they come in for their Quick Tips on Winning in Life racer presentations, helping them get settled, handing out tote bags to them and helping them pose for group photos with the racers after their presentation, accompanying them to the Expo are for their Paddock Tours of the Pirelli World Challenge area and keeping them together among the crowds, escorting them back upstairs to our conference room, handing them comment cards and pencils, and gathering the filled comment cards and pencils back. There are also other little projects that volunteers do throughout the day, like asking questions if the kids are shy or their questions start faltering during the racer Q&A sessions. Also volunteers assist with meeting racers at the Media Room or at the ticket gate and escorting them to our Conference Room; meeting kids' groups at the ticket gate and escorting them to our Conference Room. Obtaining group numbers from their representatives and tracking the names of volunteers; carrying posters during the Paddock Tours, etc.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, we begin at 8:00 a.m.; then, on Friday and Saturday we finish at approximately 5:30 p.m., while on Sunday, we finish at approximately 1:30 p.m. in time for volunteers to watch most of the IndyCar race. We need volunteers who will arrive just prior to 8:00 a.m. and work with us throughout each day (or, until at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.) We do not accept volunteers who can work only partial days.

Volunteers will need to provide their own transportation and any parking fees. RWC will provide you with a receipt for your event-related out of pocket expenses.

We also provide to volunteers only, a general admission ticket for the day(s) you work with us, donuts/coffee in the morning and pizza for lunch. There are food kiosks nearby where you can purchase food, or you can bring a lunch.

Children under 12 may come with their parents. Older teens are welcome, and if they come as volunteers, RWC will provide general admission tickets for them. If older children, family members or significant others come with our volunteers, they must purchase their own general admission tickets if they are not working with us.

It is not difficult work, but is fun and exhausting!

Thanks so much for your time and consideration! We look forward to the possibility of working with you this year!
