THIS OPPORTUNITY INVOLVES A LOT OF RESPONSIBILITY. You would be working with two other RWC On-Site Event Coordinators. One will be in charge of volunteers and you will work very closely with that Coordinator. The other will be in charge of racer presentations and the Expo Tour: PRIOR TO EVENT: RWC will have delivered to you RWC t-shirts for volunteers and racer-speakers, tote bags for the children and two items (such as small race-themed cars) to be placed into the tote bags. You may have a volunteer assist you with this at the event, the volunteers who assist with Set Up can also help fill tote bags, or you can do the tote bag filling prior to the event and take them to the event already filled; Additionally, there is a cartoon handout that goes into each tote bag; There are also blank Comment Cards that the children and the adults accompanying them are to fill out. RWC can email templates of the Comment Cards and the Cartoon Handout to you and you may print them out to take out to the event; or, RWC can email them to a Staples or Office Depot near where you live or work with instructions for them to print the items out, and you can pick them up to take out to the event along with the tote bags. RWC will be happy to do whichever is easiest for you; RWC has event materials stored in Covina. We would like to have them shipped to you several days prior to the event - this would be about 10 small moving boxes, a dolly, a box of posters and a large letterboard; On Thursday, April 13, at approximately 2:00 p.m., you would take all the event materials, including the tote bags, t-shirts, etc., to RWC's Conference Room in the Long Beach Convention Center and assist volunteers who will meet you there with setting up the Conference Room; The volunteers who will meet you at the Conference Room can help fill the tote bags; DURING EVENT: Stay for each entire day in RW's Conference Room. - the Field Trip Program ends at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, but you may need to stay later to deal with the event materials.; You would make sure the filled tote bags are in a box and ready for volunteers to o hand out to participating children; During each day, you would make sure the Conference Room is neat and clean and that the posters are straight on their easels - a volunteer can assist you with this. AFTER EVENT: YOU MAY WANT TO DO THIS WITH VOLUNTEERS AT THE EVENT BEFORE THEY LEAVE ON SUNDAY: At the end of the last program on Sunday, take down the event material in the Conference Room; Pack up all the event material in the boxes they were originally in; Make an inventory of what is in each box - email the inventory list to RWC; If there is any leftover event material, text RWC and let us know how much material is left over. Then take the leftover material home with you along with the letterboard, posters, dolly, and boxes of material you originally received; RWC will have empty boxes sent to you for the leftover material, so that you can pack up the leftover material - be sure to inventory each box of leftover material, and email that inventory list to RWC; RWC will send you labels for sending the event material back to storage in Covina; You should then courier the new boxes, as well as the original boxes, dolly, letterboard and posters you originally received, back to Covina for storage; and Once RWC has received all the event materials and inventories, your work for the event will be over. RWC will be happy to walk you through each responsibility and we will be at hand to answer questions. For your reference RWC has photo essays of previous Grand Prix Field Trips posted on its website at: www.racerswhocare.com. Included are photos of how the Conference Room is set up. The volunteers who will be on hand to assist with the Conference Room set up have done it before and know the drill. You will need to provide your own transportation and pay for your own parking (RWC will provide a receipt for your RWC-related out of pocket expenses at the end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024). RWC will provide you with a General Admission Ticket or Exhibitor Pass for each day, with an RWC t-shirt, and with pizza for lunch on Friday and Saturday - though you may bring your own lunch or eat in a nearby restaurant if you wish.

Virtual Opportunity
This is a volunteer only opportunity. Racers Who Care, Inc. sets up free "Quick Tips on Winning in Life" life skills presentations to children and teens made by car, motorcycle, boat and truck racers, based on their own career experiences. Even thought Volunteer Match requires us to enter an ending date, we fervently hope that you will work witr us in an ongoing, open-ended capacity. You will work closely with RWC, following up on RWC's email queries to schools, kids' groups, and hospitals around the U.S., to inquire as to their interest in have a racer make a presentation to their kids. Though this opportunity is virtual, you will need email capability and a computer (if you also have a scanner that would be terrific but it is not a requirement) so you can be in touch often with Racers Who Care. Your contact person will be Judy Strawn at: racerswhocare@gmail.com. We touch base entirely via email. We are looking for volunteers who have unlimited long distance calling plans who can make follow up calls to our email messages, in order to: 1. See if the entities have received our email message, and if not, to obtain the name and email address of the appropriate person at the organizations to re-send the email message to; 2. If they received the email message and are interested, then find out what time of day and which day(s) of the week would work best for them for a racer to come by to visit with their kids; and 3. Provide this information to Racers Who Care as soon as possible, so we can coordinate Quick Tips on Winning in Life Presentations for the interested groups. X. You may also be called upon to do this also in conjunction with organization of RWC's two Southern California Field Trip Programs at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach and at the National Hot Rod Association's season finale in Pomona, California. This can be done with your own phone, during your own time, at your location; but, we do want it to be done fairly quickly, as we have racers waiting for RWC to set up presentations for them to make. General information about RWC may be viewed at our website at: racerswhocare.com.
