Sports coaches are Salvation Army mission-minded leaders. They are developmental asset builders who seek to build life skills in youth by conducting themselves in an encouraging and responsible manner.
Typical Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for demonstrating righteous leadership
- Creates a safe environment where a basketball skills and competencies can be developed.
- Teach rules of the game, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Coach competitive games.
- Interact with parents/guardians in a positive manner.
Requirements/Skills:
- Knowledge of the game of basketball & ability to assess participant knowledge and skill levels.
- Have the ability to demonstrate sport skills with the sensitivity and awareness of various learning styles and participant abilities.
- Must be able to communicate with youth and adults.
- Must complete KeepSAfe Training, Concussion Training, CPR/First Aid Training
- Must complete Jr. NBA coaching Certification ($5 fee)
