'Tis the season for Red Kettles! You too can be a Red Kettle Volunteer! Each Thanksgiving and Christmas season, The Salvation Army places its Red Kettles outside at local retail establishments to collect needed donations to serve those less fortunate in our community. The funds that are raised go to operate our local onsite and mobile food pantries, character-building youth programs, basic needs assistance programs, and Christmas Cheer - our food and toy program for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thousands of residents in Camden, New Jersey and the surrounding counties benefit each year because of the generosity of those donating to the Red Kettle. Our Season begins November 21 and ends December 23, 2022, and we have locations in Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester Counties. What do volunteer Bell Ringers do? Volunteers represent The Salvation Army! When volunteers Ring the Bell, they leave a great impression with shoppers - whether they donate or not - and this will benefit the Salvation Army well in the future. Volunteers will stand near the kettle and Ring the Bell. The bell will attract donors to the Red Kettle! Volunteers must always give a friendly greeting and lots of eye contact and greet every shopper with an enthusiastic "Merry Christmas" or other friendly greeting. At some locations, volunteers can play an instrument, play music, and sing Christmas Carols! This is a great activity for family and students needing service hours! Volunteer Bell Ringer Shifts Monday through Saturday (We really need volunteers on Fridays and Saturdays!) starting November 19th! Shift 1: (All Day) 10am - 6pm Shift 2: 10am - 2pm Shift 3: 2pm - 6pm We do not Ring the Bell on Sundays. We ask that volunteers commit to 8 hours of Bell Ringing during the season. (Yes, you can do two shifts of 4-hours!) If you are unable to commit 8-hrs, don’t let that stop you! We will accept a 4-hour shift. We can only Ring the Bell outside at all locations. Store Locations We start Ringing the Bell at various outside locations such as the Cherry Hill Mall, Acme, Walmart, and Sam's Club stores. Who can volunteer? Individuals (Not representing a Group) and Volunteer Groups (Organizations, Churches, service groups, families, fraternities, sororities, youth groups, etc.) If you are Ringing the Bell by yourself, you must be at least 18 years of age. Minors can volunteer if the parent/guardian stays with them during the volunteer shift or with a Volunteer Group. We welcome musicians, singers and carolers too! Other volunteer opportunities are available! How to volunteer: Go to CamdenKrocCenter.Org, select Get Involved, then select the Individual or Volunteer Group Application. We need at least a week's notice to process a new volunteer.
