Join the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust as we partner with the City of Issaquah, Washington State Parks and Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park to celebrate Arbor Day in Issaquah by building a trail and planting trees! This project will take place on both City of Issaquah and Washington State Parks land and the new trail will allow hikers and joggers to bypass the noisy sidewalk and intersections along NW Sammamish Road and instead enter Lake Sammamish State Park by following Issaquah Creek through one of the older forest restoration project sites in the City of Issaquah. Located behind the Alpine Animal Hospital, this new wood chip trail will only be about 1,000 feet long, but will be vital in connecting City of Issaquah’s Pickering Reach trail along Issaquah Creek to trails within the beautiful 500 acres of Lake Sammamish State Park. Volunteer activities will include spreading wood chips to build the trail, planting native trees and shrubs near the trail and removing blackberry to continue the restoration efforts along Issaquah Creek. Whether you’re into trail work or restoration, this event will have something for you!
