Welcoming the Stranger, an educational nonprofit for immigrants and refugees in Bucks and Montgomery counties, is seeking a volunteer ESL teacher to assist the lead teacher in providing lessons to employees of a local factory in Harleysville, PA. Two back to back classes will be offered from 2-3pm and 3-4pm on Monday afternoons starting June 12. Topics covered include: safety terms, reporting emergencies, factory vocabulary, sequencing, giving and receiving instructions, and grammar. Curriculum and training are provided with a flexible start date.

ESL teaching experience preferred, but not required.

Mentorship, learning opportunities and a letter of recommendation/reference is offered as thanks for volunteering.

Welcoming the Stranger is a non-profit organization that provides free classes in English, computers, and citizenship to immigrants and refugees in Bucks County, PA.

Description

Founded in 1999, Welcoming the Stranger has taught more than 5,700 students from 112 different countries!

Using a few paid teachers and over 40 volunteers each term, classes are offered online and at locations including: Bensalem, Doylestown, Hatboro, Lambertville, Langhorne, Levittown, Morrisville, Richboro and Warminster.

Welcoming the Stranger is a fully independent, IRS-approved, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
