Would you like to volunteer with Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity. We own vacant property that we have land-banked for future construction. We need volunteers willing to mow our properties and we are flexible to your schedule to help us. You will use a riding mower, weedwacker and blower to complete each property. We can supply all the equipment, even the truck and trailer to pull everything when available.

Call Julie @ 630-5034 to learn more or email her at j.clark@foxvalleyhabitat.org.

Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity was founded on Christian principles. We are looking for Christian volunteers to represent their church to participate with our coalition of churches involved in our Faith Builds. Deepen your church's relationship with Habitat for Humanity by getting involved in the Biblical principle of providing a hand-up for working low-income families via affordable home ownership.

Habitat for Humanity is unique in what we do to provide affordable housing to transform lives to help families become self-sufficient. Here are some thought-provoking facts about us: Our Habitat families must be working because they get a mortgage. Our families earn 30%-60% of the average median income. (about $22,000-$45,000) We are the builder and the mortgage company. Our interest rate has always been 0% historically. We have only had one foreclosure in our entire history despite the fact that our Habitat families cannot qualify for a bank loan because their income is too low. Every family must participate in our 26 hour financial literacy training course. Every family must work 350-500 of sweat equity with FVHH before moving into their home. The first 200 of those hours must be on other FVHH homes before their own. The total house payment including taxes and insurance is usually lower than comparable rent. By working with a Federal HUD program, FVHH acquires down payment assistance for each family. FVHH uses a model that has been used successfully 750,000 times around the world. FVHH has a positive impact on our community by paying millions of dollars in property taxes and many millions of dollars in building costs. We create a culture for people to benefit by helping each other. Volunteerism is good for everyone. We transform lives. A University of Southern Indiana study shows measurable proof that Habitat for Humanity has an enormous positive impact in many areas for each family and the community.

Mission Statement

We are a Habitat for Humanity non-profit affiliate dedicated to the Fox Valley community. We work in partnership with people of all faiths and races to develop communities for people in need by building and renovating houses to create home ownership opportunities. Our fundamental premise is to help others by providing a hand up, not a handout. As an affiliate, we are a grass roots organization, independently operated to serve our local area community. While operating under the greater Habitat Covenant, we independently coordinate all aspects of Habitat home building in our area, including fundraising, building site selection, partner family selection and support, and house construction.

Description

With the gracious support of individuals, churches, local businesses, corporate and other non-profit sponsors/partners, we have proudly served the Fox Valley communities for over 30 years. We are continually exploring new ways to generate the necessary revenue and sponsorship to enable us to create affordable housing for those in need. These lives are only changed by the devotion of our affiliate’s team of talented volunteers, board members, and hard working families that understand the opportunity we provide.

We welcome volunteers 18 and over. Registration is required for all volunteers. For more detailed information and to register, please visit our volunteer website at www.volunteerfvhabitat.com. Information for community service work is also available on the website.
