I am reaching out on behalf of vibrant local non-profit Rising Above the Storms (RAS) ( http://www.risingabovethestorms.org/), for several 2017 recruitment efforts. We are a growing organization, whose core mission is to offer hope, resources and educational opportunities for at-risk youth, as well as advocate for orphans in developing countries. Most recently, we have begun the process of launching our Treasured Learning Center in Rwanda, for children in-need.
We have a small, yet mighty team based predominantly in Raleigh, and are seeking the following volunteer core steering member position:
Web Designer: Ideally seeking experience in responsive design. This person will perform RAS website maintenance to ensure RAS can effectively communicate its mission to site viewers.
Time commitment, all positions: monthly board meeting, in addition to working collaboratively on fundraising initiatives throughout the year. *All meetings have the option of remote dial-in, offering flexibility amid busy schedules. We are seeking exceptional individuals from the community, who are passionate about using their talents to give back and make a difference!

Rising Above the Storms (RAS) strives to instill hope and advocate for at-risk and orphaned youth. We ensure a chance at long term success and stability through awareness, education, and empowerment from our world’s greatest volunteers and founder’s personal story.
Description
Rising Above the Storms was born from the experiences of our founder, Alphonsine Imaniraguha Anderson. At the age of thirteen, she suffered the tragic loss of her parents during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. Orphaned, she survived against all odds, with hope, determination, and courage. Those qualities inspire our work to this day.
Alphonsine overcame the storms of her past. She supported her three younger siblings, as well as two other orphaned boys. All their lives have been forever changed by the power of education and hope. Today she is a successful engineer, working for the global technology provider, Cisco. At RAS, our vision is to continue and expand on her life’s work. Our first learning center is in Rwanda. Our goal long term is to expand the model to other parts of the world, improving more lives of those in need.
